Gillian Bellavia

Cremations of Tampa

Allison Gadd

Gillian was a kind, tender soul whose warm openness made everyone feel welcome, wanted, and deeply loved. Her wonderful sense of humor, gentle encouragement, and unwavering kindness touched every person fortunate enough to know her.

Born Gillian Doris Margaret Dann and raised in Golden Green, England, alongside many brothers and sisters, she grew up in the humble post‑WWII years of the 1940s and 1950s. Life was simple, but Nanny and Grandad always kept a garden full of vegetables to feed the whole family. Their home, though old and often in disrepair, overflowed with laughter, activity, and the joyful chaos of a large, loving household.

She and her four sisters often reminisced about those not‑so‑glamorous days, retelling stories that—through their eyes—were the best times of their lives. One favorite memory was the day they were told to haul the “good” furniture down from the attic because posh visitors were coming. After the guests left, they lugged everything back upstairs—only for their friends to return moments later after missing their train. The laughter from that moment echoed for decades.

While working at a military facility in London, she met the love of her life, Seth Wilkins, an American Navy sergeant. Dad would leave small gifts on her desk in hopes of winning her heart—and he did. They married in 1961 and honeymooned in Paris. Adam was born in 1963, and soon after, Dad was transferred to Mayport Naval Base in Jacksonville, Florida, where Allison was born.

They eventually settled in Brandon, Florida, after Dad retired from his 22 years of military service. Over the years, the family traveled often—back to England, throughout Europe, and across the Carolinas, Virginia, and Mississippi to visit Dad’s large Southern family. Staying connected mattered deeply to her; she wrote letters, made visits, and nurtured relationships across oceans. Dad adored her English family, and she cherished his Southern roots just as dearly.

After forty loving years of marriage, Dad passed away. Yet her adventurous spirit carried her forward. A true jetsetter at heart, she loved traveling—whether with someone or entirely on her own. She even visited Tahiti solo. She and her sister, Audrey Rogers, both widowed, traveled the world together during those years, creating new memories and stories to share.

Later, she found her soulmate in Robert “Bob” Bellavia, a gentle, soft‑spoken man with a talent for wood carving, painting, and scratch art. The family loved him instantly. Mom and Bob continued their tradition of traveling abroad and enjoyed a wide circle of friends in Orange City, Florida as part of the Jehovah Witness congregation there. Their days were filled with companionship, good food, and always a glass of wine or two… or sometimes three.

Her passing marks the end of an era. She was the last of her siblings.

We will carry her memory forward in the stories we tell, the traditions we keep, and the love we share. The photos shown here are pieces of her life—moments she treasured and people she loved with all her heart.
