Victoria "Vicky" A Attard
2 de agosto de 1939 - 24 de agosto de 2026
2 de agosto de 1939 - 24 de agosto de 2026
August 2, 1939 – August 24, 2026
Victoria A. Attard, 87, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, surrounded by family at a nursing facility in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
Born on August 2, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York, Victoria—known to most as Vicky—lived a life defined by family, love, and the countless relationships she built throughout her 87 years.
Vicky raised seven biological children and helped raise two stepchildren, three foster children, and countless friends who came for dinner and somehow ended up staying for a couple of years. Her home and her heart always seemed to have room for one more.
She spent her child-raising years on Long Island before returning to school and earning her degree in education. She later moved to Arizona to live near her brother, Arthur Attard, before eventually settling in Florida to be closer to several of her children.
Vicky endured the loss of two husbands, John G. Ottinger in 1965 and Rosario J. Lupis in 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Martta; a brother, Emile Makkay; and her sister, Carol Kelly.
Vicky is survived by her heartbroken children: James Lupis, Kathy Sullivan, John Ottinger-Lupis, Denise Bennett, Lisa Choinski, Rosario P. Lupis, Victor J. Lupis, David P. Lupis, and Eric J. Lupis; their respective spouses and partners; her brother, Arthur Attard; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with the many friends who became family over the years.
Mom loved big, lived life to the fullest, and cherished her roles as a mother, teacher, mentor, and “best friend” to countless people fortunate enough to know her.
She was a lifelong angler who could out-fish any cranky old fisherman who thought he knew how to do it better. Vicky also loved to sew and was a voracious reader, diving into everything from classic literature and history to a good mystery.
She leaves behind a very large family, but her family extended far beyond blood. Vicky had a remarkable ability to welcome people into her life, make them feel at home, and, more often than not, feed them while she was at it. She was never afraid to sternly correct someone who crossed the line, yet she could just as quickly embrace that same person in their time of need.
Mom will be terribly missed. We take comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering and is now in the arms of God. Her love, humor, strength, and generous spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life honoring Vicky will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Sand Pebble Pointe Clubhouse, 4740 Bay Blvd., Port Richey, FL 34668. Family and friends are invited to join us in celebrating Vicky, sharing memories, telling stories, and remembering a life that touched so many.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a fantastic, inspirational human being, who had such a positive impact on me and my life as a young man, and who was the foundation of a wonderful, vibrant, loving family, all of whom treated me and others as one of their own. I remember and miss those times, and I miss her now even more so. My condolences and sympathy to all her family and friends. With all my heart, John D.

I remember the first time I met Vicky, who would later become known as my Mom. I was invited to dinner at the Lake Grove home. But that was not just a Sunday spaghetti “dinner.” That was a meal for an entire army! 😂 I was only 14 years old. Now, at 52, I can look back on so many happy memories with Mom. So many of them involved fishing. One memory still makes me laugh: she bought fresh clams to use as bait, and while she was busy fishing, I was apparently more interested in chucking the clams than actually using them. 🤣 Let’s just say she was NOT amused. We shared so many holidays, so many conversations, and so many moments that became part of the story of my life. There was even a time when I lived with her when my own parents weren’t there. She became more than a friend, more than someone I knew through a friend. She became my Mom. Even when hundreds of miles separated us, we stayed connected. She was there when I got married. She was there through my divorce. She was one of the few people I could tell absolutely anything to without fear of judgment. But Mom would always give it to me real. She loved me enough to tell me the truth, even when it wasn’t what I wanted to hear. And somehow, she always managed to set me straight while making me feel loved at the same time. It breaks my heart that I couldn’t be there with her during these last few months. That is something I will always wish had been different. But distance, time, and circumstances can never erase what we shared. They cannot change the closeness we had, the love between us, or the countless memories that I will carry with me. I am so grateful that a 14-year-old girl sitting down to that “Sunday dinner for an army” somehow found another Mom in this world. I loved her then. I loved her through all the years in between. And I will love her always. Thank you for being my Mom. ❤️ (your sometimes daughter) S.
